Free eye care camp conducted

Imphal, July 17 2022: Thangmeiband Youth Social Reformation and Development Committee (TYSRDC) and Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) under the aegis of Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan organised a one day free eye care camp at Ima Panthoibi Shangleri, Sinam Leikai on Sunday.

Over 200 residents of Thangmeiband assembly constituency Ward No 1 availed free eye check-up service at the camp, during which medicines were also provided at free of cost.

Speaking on the occasion, Joykisan appreciated the two organisations for organising the eye care camp to provide free eye check-up facility to the people, who could not afford to visit hospital to check their problems.

He also spoke on the increasing spoke on the increasing eyesight problem among the children and youth due to modern gadgets like mobile phones and called for early and routine check- up to prevent any serious conditions.

TYSRDC president Sinam Sarat said that the camp was organised in association with National Health Mission Manipur under the National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment.

Apart from free medicines, they are also providing spectacles, to those who need them as per the assessment at the camp.

Several cataract cases were detected among the elderly citizens and they are planning to provide assistance in conducting surgery, the president said, adding that similar camps will also be organised in different wards of the constituency in the coming days.
