Cleanliness should be mantra for good health: Governor

Governor La Ganesan has reiterated that cleanliness should be the mantra for maintaining good health and urged all to be united and work for ensuring a clean and healthy environment.
Speaking in an interaction programme of district level officers, representatives of local bodies and public held on Friday at the Indoor Hall of S Kula Women's College in Nambol Sub-Division of Bishnupur district, the Governor stressed on the importance by all to take care of one's health saying it is the prerequisite for any activities.
While stating that without good health no work can be done, he informed that to ensure a viable healthcare system, the government has been taking up many initiatives.
Though the world has been facing unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic for over two years prompt action taken up by government has been able to keep the dreaded disease almost under control.
"But we still have to be alert and careful", he added.
La Ganesan also commended the relentless efforts of health workers and front-line warriors and urged all sections of society to get vaccinated as it is the best way to defeat the pandemic.
The Governor further said that Union government is committed to eliminate Tuberculosis (TB) from India by 2025 and therefore we all should work to achieve this target.
He then advised officials concerned to conduct a survey within the district to find out the number of TB patients and report to the authorities concerned so as to enable them to carry out appropriate preventive measures.
Stating that the activities of anti-social elements have considerably decreased, he appealed to the people to work for development and peace.
All should cooperate with each other and work for the development of the nation, added the Governor.
Earlier, the Governor heard grievances faced by the people and asked the officials concerned to take up necessary measures at the earliest.
The programme was also attended by MLAs Thongam Shanti Singh (Moirang), I Nalini Devi (Oinam), LDA chairman M Asnikumar Singh and Bishnupur deputy commissioner L Bikram among others.
