Four held with 13 kg opium, other drugs

Imphal, May 17 2022:
A team of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) arrested a man with 13 kg of Kani (opium) on May 15.The arrested man has been identified as Nengsohai Guite alias Haopu (42) s/o (L) Thanggoukhup Guite of Gangpimol, Churachandpur.
According to a police report, the team was conducting frisking and checking operation at Kwakta Moirang Turel Mapal around 5pm on May 15.During the operation, the team detained Nengsohao and recovered around 13kg of opium packed in 13 different packets from his possession.
The seized opium is estimated to be worth around Rs 9.10 lakh.
On questioning, Nengsohao revealed that he had bought the opium from a man in Churachandpur and was meant to hand it over to another person in Kwakta area.
NAB has registered an FIR against Nengsohao Guite and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Imphal West police commandos rounded up three individuals along with recovering large consignment of brown sugar, SP tablets and cough syrup from them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Md Ajmir Hussain alias Ithem (42) son of late Md Abdul Sattar and Md Ajmir Hussain (28) son of Md Suraj Ahmad, and Md Majid (30) son of Md Yaima all of Lilong Leihaokhong Mathak Leikai.
Police source said that acting on intelligence input, the CDO team arrested Ajmir Hussain alias Ithem from an area in Thoubal district on Monday around 12:10 pm and the younger Md Ajmir Hussain around 12:45 pm and recovered 1.32 kg of brown sugar from their possession.
The two confessed of being drug peddlers along with revealing that the brown sugar was for sale to one Md Islauddin son of late Md Nahakhomei of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Khongnang Makhong.
Later, the same CDO team arrested Md Majid around 3:30 pm along with 1584 pieces of SP tablets and 45 bottles of cough syrup.
During questioning, he disclosed of procuring the contraband items from one MV Ayub (38) son of Md Saukat Ali of Lilong Lou Manga and that he has been doing the illegal trade with MV Ayub for a long time.
All the three individuals along with the seized drugs have been handed over to Lilong police station for further legal actions.
