Minister assures security to Sekmai AC farmers

Imphal, June 16 2024:
Social Welfare minister and Sekmai AC MLA Heikham Dingo on Sunday inspected around 40 'pari' of farmlands in Leimakhong area of the constituency to prepare for agricultural activities.
The minister also interacted with the Khuja and Gurkha farmers of Kanto Sabal, while inspecting the arable fields in the area.
In this regard, minister Dingo said that most areas of Sekmai AC fall under the red zone.
Despite this, farming activities need to be carried out.
Thus, to ensure farmers can till their land in peace, state and central forces will be deployed in Kanto Sabal and also in most areas of the constituency.
Informing that a review is underway to assess if the farmlands which could not be cultivated last year could be farmed this year instead, he emphasised the importance of the suggestions provided by Sekmai denizens particularly the farmers in this regard.
He then appealed to the farmers to try their best to farm with the arrival of the monsoon season.
The minister was accompanied by CRPF and Sikh Regiment personnel and a team of Sekmai PS OC along with members of Kanto Sabal Village Development Committee.
The Committee and Nepali Gurkha farmers appreciated the minister s visit to the area and urged for further assistance.
