Meira group bats for electing Manipur saver

Imagi Meira, a women's vigilante group, has appealed to the public to exercise their franchise rights in electing the candidate who could face and expose elements scheming to disintegrate Manipur.
Addressing the media at Manipur Press Club, here, on Monday, the group's convenor Th Sujata recalled that Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Manipur on May 29 last year and promised to return after 15 days with a solution in hand.
The people of the state believed him and hoped that the crisis in Manipur end soon.
However, the home minister did not keep his words even as the crisis escalated and many endured immense hardships, including casualties and injuries.
While pointing out that the group has been urging the central government to intervene but to no avail centre, the convenor contended that the home minister Amit Shah remembering Manipur with the parliamentary elections round the corner speaks volume about the indifferent attitude of those helming the affairs in New Delhi consequently making the people aware that the central government does not care for Manipur.
Sujata also observed that people of Manipur seem to be divided on account of the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
However, Imagi Meira shall not deviate from the 'earlier stand that only the candidate who could save Manipur should be elected.
As such, the people should vote for the best candidate who will serve the interest of Manipur and its people, and uphold rights of the indigenous communities, she stressed while appealing to the CSOs and meira paibi associations to ensure that the election is conducted in a free and fair manner.
Sujata also urged Amit Shah to take up measures to resolve the present crisis, restore peace in Manipur at the earliest and advise authorities concerned to trace the whereabouts of 30 persons missing amid the conflict.
