Imphal, July 15 2014:
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) during an emergency public meeting held today resolved to endorse the 24-hour bandh called by UNC in all 'Naga areas' from midnight of June 15 .
Announcing this to the media after the meeting held at its office, General Secretary of CNPO LV Robert informed that CNPO, NWUC and tribe presidents will enforce the bandh at Thamlapokpi and Lamkang Khunou.
Lamkang, Monsang and Moyon tribe volunteers will impose the bandh at Liwa Changning while Maring Uparup Assembly and ANTA with ALT will do the same in Tuishimi, Machi and western valley and Chakpikarong respectively.
Terming the action of the state government deploying heavy security personnel in Ukhrul as 'high handedness and communal', the meeting condemned it at the highest level, informed Robert while saying that the meeting further resolved to say 'No' to similar military operation in Chandel district, as it would harm the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process.
