"Manipur would have fallen apart without the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as no other political party could save the state, " claimed Chief Minister N Biren Singh, urging the public to recognise the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Chief minister N Biren Singh launched the 15-day Constitution awareness campaign called 'Samvidhan Gourav Abhiyaan (Our Constitution, Our Pride)' at Thambal Shanglen (state BJP office) on Tuesday.
Addressing BJP workers at the event, chief minister N Biren Singh said Manipur would have fallen apart if there was no BJP and the party alone is saving Manipur and will save the state from destruction.
Urging the people to see the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah to save Manipur, N Biren said he joined politics with a firm stand to save Manipur after June 18 incident and not for personal aggrandisement.
Calling upon BJP workers to take stronger stand, CM Biren said BJP workers should not be scared and work collectively to save Manipur as there is no other political party than BJP to save the state from destruction.
Educated and patriotic people support BJP and they must speak up and advocate for core issues besieging the state, he added.
Without naming the political party they affiliated with, the chief minister criticised two Lok Sabha MPs of the state for their silence on critical issues like Free Movement Regime (FMR), border fencing and illegal immigration.
They do not speak up On issues of Manipur in Parliament though elected by the people, Biren alleged.
On the issue of illegal immigration, CM Biren reaffirmed his government's efforts to deport immigrants and prevent demographic invasion.
He said that 27 Myanmarese were detected some time back and all of them, except two who happened to be Myanmar Rohingya, were deported.
The two Rohingyas are still at detention centre as Myanmar authority declined to claim them as their citizens, he informed the gathering.
Praising the works of Dr BR Ambedkar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the chief minister highlighted their significant contributions to promoting coristitutional values and democratic ideals.
He also credited PM Modi's initiative to safeguard the Constitution.
He further highlighted the reasonable restrictions under Article 19 of the Constitution and stressed the need for balancing free speech and responsibility.
Criticising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for failing to maintain dress code in Constitution related events, the chief minister said there is no leader in the world who wore T-shirt, jeans and Chappal and still holds the Constitution.
According to CM Biren, the 'Samvidhan Gourav Avhiyaan' is being organised at Thambal Shanglen as a means to reinforce the BJP's commitment to constitutional integrity, national security and strong leadership in addressing critical issues.
The event was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda Devi, MP Sanajaoba Leishemba, ministers and MLAs and veteran politician Th Chaoba apart from senior BJP leaders and workers.
