Meanwhile, Laksh Pioneer Committee president N Khaba has issued a press release informing that digging up of the road for Sewer Project is causing road accidents in the area every other day.
The release continued that as part of the Project, the road is being dug in several areas with no end in sight, instead of completing the works in a consecutive manner.
He then cautioned that the firm in charge of the project would be held responsible if any unwanted incidents were to occur.
The release further stated that the suspension bridge constructed over Nambul River; which flows through Naoremthong Khumanthem Leikai and Naoremthong Khullem Leikai, is not suitable.
The side of the bridge leading to Uripok Kangchip road is quite steep and there have been instances of accidents in the area in the past.
Despite multiple requests for repair, the contractor concerned said that it is the PWD's responsibility.
While the Committee lauds the initiative to maintain the bridge and ensure proper sewage system, the work which is being done for namesake only, is disappointing, it said.
Urging authority concerned to take up the necessary action as soon as possible, the Committee cautioned of blocking the road if the pleas continue to be ignored.
