Strongly condemning alleged excessive use of force against students during a democratic protest on Tuesday which left over 100 students injured; INDIA bloc remarked that the law and order of the state is worsening day-by-day, while demanding withdrawal of the ban on internet services.
Addressing the media at Congress Bhawan, here on Thursday, INDIA bloc Manipur convenor and CPI (M) secretary Ksh Shanta said that the recent drone bombings and rocket attacks testify failure by the present regime to maintain law and order in the state.
Strongly condemning the police for resorting to indiscriminate firing of tear gas shells on the students, he also regretted that the ban on internet imposed by the government is affecting everything and everybody all at once.
As such, Shanta demanded the government to withdraw the internet ban order by September 15 and help mitigate inconveniences faced by the people.
Chipping in, MPCC working president Kh Debabrata said that the issue in Manipur continues to boil, with the PM deflecting the matter instead of endeavouring to put an end to the issue.
Stating that the Constitution has collapsed in the state, he continued that the people longer even have the right to speak.
Regarding the internet ban, Debabrata reminded the government that in this day and age, access to internet is important whether it be searching for jobs or sharing of knowledge.

Further stating that national highways are subjects of cen tral government, the MPCC working president called for reopening of the highways, adding that this will help solve almost half of the prevailing conflict.
