Library Day observed at Khangabok

Minister CAF & PD and Revenue, Karam Shyam, while speaking as chief guest in the observance function of Library Day organized jointly by Manipur Library Association (MALA) in association with Blooming Foundation at the MMRC and Unity Park, Khangabok today, said that there is no harm in learning good things by reading books during the learning stage of life, said a press release issued by vice-president MALA.
Kangjam Chaoba Singh, president MALA and Khundrakpam Menjor Mangang, Chairman MMRC & Unity Park also attended the observance function as functional president and guest of honour respectively while more than 300 students, youth leaders, academicians, teachers and public leaders were also present in the function, it added.
The function began by showering water to the plants and by offering floral tribute to the portrait of Dr SR Ranganathan.
It further said that the Library Day was observed in connection with the 127th Birth Anniversary of Dr SR Ranganathan, father of Indian Library Movement in India.
Speakers L Sabita Devi and Dr Th Khomdon Singh spoke on the life, philosophy and activities of Ranganathan in the propogration of Library Movement in India.
Menjor Mangang narrated the success story of how the MMRC Park came into being and talked about various libraries and books on culture and tradition of Manipur.
Ningthoujam Ramananda of Blooming Foundation closed the function with words of thanks and appreciation.
