AR organises ex-servicemen rally, celebrates advent Christmas

Chandel Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted an ex-servicemen rally and celebrated advent Christmas with ex-servicemen at Chandel today.
A total of 43 ex-servicemen, Veer Naris, war widows and dependants of Assam Rifles and Army attended the meet, said PRO, IGAR.
The Commandant highlighted that ex-servicemen of Assam Rifles and Army continue to be important constituents of the society and have a very big potential in making positive contribution towards Nation building.
He emphasised that the ex-servicemen are force multiplier and have rich experience in aid to civil authority and disaster management.
He urged them to contribute positively in development of society upliftment and other Nation building activities.
Subsequently, issues related to pension, health care, reemployment and other grievances were addressed during the meet.
Meanwhile, a medical camp was also established at the venue to address medical issues of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependants wherein medical checkup was carried out by Chief Medical Officer, Chandel Battalion.
Also, an information counter and documentation counter was established to inform ex-servicemen regarding latest policies including upcoming recruitment rallies for their children.
Ex-servicemen requested for establishing a poly clinic in Chandel as the district have maximum number of ex-servicemen for which a case will be taken up with authorities consequently.
In the end, a cake cutting was done to mark the advent Christmas and meals were served to all attendees as well, it added.
The Commandant assured that Assam Rifles and Chandel Battalion will continue to redress the grievances of veterans, Veer Naris, war widows and ex-servicemen.
The ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and dependants extended their heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for taking good care of the ex-servicemen fraternity.
