Imphal, September 11 2024:
While informing that the open debating competition earlier scheduled for jointly conduct by Manipur Youths and Students' Union (MYSU) and All Meitei Pangal Youths Association on September 12 has been postponed due to the present situation in the state, MYSU appealed authorities concerned to honour demands of the students and pledged to extend support to decision taken by the protesting students.
In a release, MYSU stated that the debating competition centred on 'impact of drug menace to Manipuri society', has been rescheduled on September 29 at Manipur Press Club with deadline for form submission also extended till September 25 .
Demanding immediate halt to the nefarious ploy for protracting the on-going conflict, it advised the government not to create trouble to the students but fulfil their demands without delay.
If students exhaust their limit of tolerance and decided to defend Manipur instead of attending schools, then the situation in the state would only turn grim, cautioned the Union.
Further stating that the Governor deploying various diversionary tactics rather than endorsing genuine demands of the protesting students tantamount to complete disregard of the student community, MYSU also condemned brutal crackdown by state and central force against the student protestors.
It reiterated that the union will uphold decision taken by the protesting students and join the movement launched.
