Plastic fibre boat presented to Thang-Karang people

Imphal, August 10, 2014:
To facilitate the movement of people living in Thanga-Karang Island of Loktak Lake, especially the school going children, a plastic fibre boat having the capacity of carrying 10 to 15 people at one time was presented to the people during a function organised by at National Association of Fishermen (NAF), Manipur State Unit at the twin island village today.
The boat has been presented by Central Institute of Fishery Technology (CIFT) Cochin, Kerala, Government of India through the Fisheries Department, Government of Manipur.
The boat was formally dedicated to the people by Director of Police Wireless dept, Govt of Manipur M Rachandra Singh who attended the function as chief guest.
Ex-Minister and president of NAF Manipur State Unit H Kangjamba and Extension and Training Officer of Fisheries Dept S Umananda Singh were also present during the function which also witnessed distribution of fishing nets and tree saplings to the people of the twin island.
