65th Van Mahotsava 2014 celebrated

Imphal, July 10 2014: The 65th Van Mahotsava 2014 festival was celebrated by Sadar Divisional Forest Officer at Tondonsana High School, Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, Imphal West district here today.

The function was attended by L Nandakumar, MLA of Uripok A/C and Th Mahendra Pratap, Conservator of Forests (Central Circle), Government of Manipur as Chief Guest and President respectively.

DK Vinod Kumar, Divisional Forests Officer (Central Forests Division); Ph Baleshwor Sharma, Councilor of IMC Ward no 5 and A Kananbala, headmistress of Tondonsana High School were also present as Guests of Honor.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Nandakumar observed that watering of trees is equally important as planting of trees and called upon the public to take active participation in mass plantation drive for a cleaner and healthier environment.

Saying that plantation of tree saplings in schools and colleges is a welcoming step, he assured that the government will extend all possible help in conducting mass plantation drive at different places.

As part of the programme, dignitaries along with students of the school planted several trees saplings inside the school campus.
