Villagers unhappy over ops In Mongbung village

After recent attack on Mongbung Meetei village by Kuki-Zo-Hmar militants from neighbouring Jarol pokpi village on November 7, security forces conducted search operation at the village on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the villagers expressed their disapproval of the operation jointly conducted by Jiribam District Police, 7 IRB, 38 Assam Rifles and CRPF.
Speaking to media persons in connection with the operation, one of the villagers Longjam Sandyarani alleged that guns are fired from Kuki and Hmar villages towards Meetei village but search operations are held at Mongbung Meetei village.
It has been fourth time such operation has been taken place in the village.
Earlier also when attacks were carried out from Mongbung and Sejang Kuki villages, operation were conducted in the Meetei village.
Such discriminatory action is causing discontent among villagers, she further decried.
The villagers also observed that the additional CRPF personnel stationed near the village on Saturday is less suitable, it would have been better if they were posted at areas near Jarolpokpi school.
During the operation which was led by Jiribam SP and CRPF DIG two rounds were fired from Jarolpokpi village side.
On the other hand, Jiribam SP M Pradip Singh informed that a joint team of Jiribam District Police, 7 IRB, 38 AR and CRPF conducted search operation from 7 am on Saturday at areas of Mongbung Meetei, Balijuri and Jairolpokpi villages.
During the operation, the combined team recovered four bulletproof vests (two with plate, two without plate), one magazine pouch, six SLR live rounds and five single barrel cartridges hidden at a jungle near Mongbung Meetei village, he said.
The Jiribam SP further disclosed that the operation ended at around 11:45 am and a CRPF MPV team was stationed at the road connecting Mongbung Meetei and Jarolpokpi villages.
