Public meet demands removal of central forces

Thoubal, September 09 2024: Khunai Kanba Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (KHUKAMPAL), Thoubal conducted a public meeting on 'Manipur Muthatpa Yaroi' at Thoubal Wangmataba Devi Mandop on Monday.

Amid chants of 'We want freedom', 'We don't trust central government', 'Remove central forces from Manipur', 'We will form our own government', etc., several resolution were adopted including demand for replacing of the security advisor and the DGP as people of Manipur do not have faith in unlawful actions of centre.

The meet also resolved to demand that the government take effective measures to neutralise drone bombing and attack on Meeteis by Kuki narco-terrorists, flushed out the narco-terrorists from Manipur; halt conduct of search operations to apprehend village volunteers in valley areas; cease harassment of people under the garb of checking operations; and withdrawal of central forces as the centre has failed to protect people of Manipur, and it's denizens are yearning for self-governance.

Speaking at the meeting, KHUKAMPAL president Waikhom Meipak Devi lamented that leaders, who the people elected, have betrayed them and their motherland.

She also criticised inaction by central forces deployed in the state even after civilians were targeted with drone bombs.

The president exuded confidence that state police force and village volunteers will protect Manipur.

The meet was also attended by KHUKAMPAL secretary Ak Chitreshwori Devi, and Thoubal Keithel Phambi president Budhi Devi along with other leaders of local meira paibi and women organisations as presidium members.
