Uploading of unauthorised newspapers upsets hawkers

The 2nd foundation day of Thoubal District Hawkers' Association (TDHA) was held at Thoubal Athokpam Khunou on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Thoubal District Working Journalists' Union (TDWJU) president Soibam Binoy Singh noted that reading of cuttings of newspapers on social media, distribution of unauthorised PDFs of newspapers, etc., are hugely impacting the livelihood of newspaper hawkers as well as people employed in the sector and media houses.
Even though media houses do not release their paper online before 12 hours of hitting the stands, few people are distributing unauthorised PDF files of newspapers and reading cuttings of newspapers on WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube, he said terming such practices as very wrong step.
Such unauthorised usage should be addressed before it goes out of hand, he stressed.
S Binoy further encouraged the youth to cultivate the habit of reading newspapers, watching and listening news reports on TV arid radio as it is very important in today's competitive times.
On the other hand, TDHA president Samom Raghumani called upon all to stop uploading of unauthorised copies of newspapers on social media and urged authority concerned to look into the matter in consideration of the welfare of hawkers and society.
