Imphal, September 07 2024:
Federation of Civil Society Organizations (FOCS), Manipur has called for carrying out a military crackdown to drive away all Kuki rebels from Indian soil.
In a press meet held at Manipur Women's Federation (MWF) office in Kakwa Boroimakhong on Saturday, FOCS president Th Manihar said that the recent attacks carried out by Kuki terrorists/rebels on Indian territory using high-tech drones and short-range ballistic missiles, should not be taken lightly.
This is an attack against India and as such, the defence ministry should order a military crackdown at the earliest to drive away the Kuki terrorists/rebels from Indian soil.
Furthermore, as security advisor and unified command chairman Kuldiep Singh and the DGP along with the chief secretary have failed to perform their duties, the central government should replace them by more competent officials, he demanded, while informed that FOCS would be submitting a letter in this regard to the central government.
He continued that the state government is now a dummy government since its MLAs/ministers are unable to exercise powers given by the Constitution nor fulfil the resolutions they adopted in the House.
However, the situation is now more serious than ever, he said and urged all 50 MLAs to take a united stand for saving Manipur and make the same clear to the centre.
Manihar also stressed the need for CSOs and other women organisations in the state to work together at the state level, instead of pursuing their own interests.
In this regard, FOCS would be organising the third "Leaders' Meet", he informed and invited all representatives to attend the same.
He then appealed to all village volunteers to come together and work under a unified command.
