Union minister assures upgrade of MUC

Imphal, September 07 2021:
Titular king of Manipur and Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba met union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan during which the minister assured of speeding up the process of upgrading Manipur University of Culture (MUC) into a central university.
Sanajaoba called on the union minister at the latter's official residence in New Delhi on Tuesday at 9.30 am.
The MP was accompanied by his media advisor Maisnam Shivadutta Luwang and Manipur University of Culture vice-chancellor professor Paonam Gunindro.
During the meeting, the titular king submitted a memorandum requesting upgrade of MUC into a central university and presented a flower vase made of Kouna (water reed) and a traditional shawl to the union minister.
He enlightened the union minister of the fact that Manipur University of Culture is the second university of culture after Utkal University of Culture, Odisha.
The minister assured of looking into the matter and speed up the upgradation process.
The titular king would also be meeting union minister of culture and tourism Kisan Reddy and union MoS for education RK Ranjan over the same matter.
Mention may be made here that the Rajya Sabha MP brought up the demand for upgrading Manipur University Culture, which was established in 2015 with the objective to promote the state's rich art and culture, during the recently concluded Parliament session.
