CRPDS reiterates call for saving Chakpi and its tributaries

In a bid to save and preserve Chakpi river, Chakpi River Protection & Development Society, Chandel reiterated its stand of imposing ban on fishing activities using explosive devices, electrical dynamo and bleaching powder in the river and its tributaries.
It has also resolved to ban sale of of poisonous chemical substances, explosive devices in the market or in private as well as to forbid manufacturing of electrical dynamo for use as fishing device.
Announcing this in a press note issued by its Information & publicity wing today, the Society stated a sum of Rs 5000 shall be imposed as fine to any individual or group for violating the prohibition order and the village authority shall be liable for penalty for failure to enforce the ban order in their jurisdiction.
The statement, while appealing to the general public of Chandel to cooperate with the Society in the efforts of preservation and promotion of fishes and other species that are facing threat of extinction, said fresh water, streams, lakes, rivers and ponds must be free from all pollution for sustenance of their future.
