Imphal, January 07 2025:
Dismissing the allegations made by Indian security forces regarding violation of Ground Rule of the Peace Agreement signed with the Government of India and Government of Manipur, the Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) said the report was baseless.
According to a statement of the Pambei-led UNLF, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla's suggestion on slapping National Security Act, 1980 against UNLF cadres based on the report furnished by Indian security forces as report ed by The Hindu daily on January 4 edition was based on wrong source and an erroneous decision.
Taking such a decision abruptly without thorough study maligns image, ethics and integrity of the Governor, it pointed out, adding that Ajay Kumar Bhalla, being responsible Governor of the state, should have taken up steps to bring an amicable solution to the conflict.
On the contrary, queries are being raised if the Governor tried to sabotage the Comprehensive Political Dialogue between the Government of India and the UNLF.
If this happens to be true, Ajay Kumar Bhalla should acknowledge that such a step will hamper political solution to the Manipur-India conflict, the UNLF statement issued by the department of publicity director Charairongba Thokchom said.
According to the UNLF statement, the organisation is closely watching sincerity of the Government of India in the present context of Manipur.
If the UNLF happens to violate the Ground Rule, the matter should have reached the Peace Monitoring Committee (PMC) and discussed collectively to find a solution, the statement added.
