Ching Tam Cultural festival inaugurated

The 4th edition of 'Ching Tam Cultural festival' organised under the aegis of All Manipur Hueiyen Lallong and Traditional Cultural Preservation Committee began on Thursday along with an impressive function at Rupmahal Theatre here.
In the inaugural function, Khuman Leima, President of International Mothers' Association and Social worker Dr..NIbohal Meitei graced as chief guest and president respectively, while renowned Singer Uttam Mayanglambam attended as guest of honour.
Maibi Jagoi, Pena and other cultural items marked the inauguration of the festival to be concluded on September 8.Altogether 40 cultural troupes are taking part in the festival.
In his keynote address, Leishangthem Ratan, Secretary of All Manipur Hueiyen Lallong and Traditional Cultural Preservation Committee stated the objectives of the festival are to enable the society to live in peace and harmony.
Stressing the importance of costumes and culture of Manipur, Uttam Mayanglambam, in his speech, said that tradition identifies the people of a land.
In his presidential address, Dr..NIbohal appealed to the gathering to conserve their tradition and culture.
