Imphal, January 04 2014 : A 7-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a speeding tipper truck at Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Manipur's Imphal West district on Saturday morning.

Amom Alis, son of A Alexander of Langthabal Kunja Mayai Leikai, was rammed by the truck near his residential gate around 11 am.

He died on the spot.

Local residents caught the driver along with the vehicle at the site just after the mishap.

The driver, E Manao, 60, hailing from Wabagai in Thoubal district, was handed to Singjamei police by the locals.

The police have also seized the vehicle.

In another accident, at least four passengers, including a driver were injured when a Magic passenger van collided with a truck in front of Lilong Higher Secondary School along Imphal-Moreh road section of National Highway-2 around 12:20 pm today.

The injured were driver of the Magic van and his three passengers.

However, their injuries were stated to be minor.
