After violence in school, principal calls for reality check

A day after infuriated students of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy demolished toilets of the school in protest against alleged failure of the Education Department to appoint required teachers and make available all necessary infrastructure in the school, principal of the school, Sumati has made a fervent appeal to the Education Department to meet the demands raised by the students at the earliest for maintaining academic atmosphere in the school.
Addressing a press meet at the school here, Sumati asserted that the demands made by the students regarding appointment of required teachers, construction of proper toilets of the school and several others are legitimate as such lapses have affected smooth conduct of classes in the school.
She also lamented that the school is lagging behind as compared to other higher secondary schools in terms of strength of teachers and infrastructure.

She said that the authorities had been also urged to demarcate land of the school but the same has been not done so far and pointed out that students were compelled to come up with violent protest as the concerned authorities have utterly failed to meet most of the needs of the school in time.
Terming the reports carried in a television news channel on September 2 which said that she acted in a dramatic manner while confronting with the students who ransacked the school toilets as unfortunate, the principal clarified that the incident could have been avoided if there was proper communication between her and the students.
The principal also said that she will hold discussion with students' union of the school to take up measures meant for development of the school.
Meanwhile, students of the school staged a sit-in-protest today in condemnation of the failure of Education Department to meet their demands.
The students had already launched n indefinite class boycott from September 2 to press their demands.
The angry students have also decided not to take part in Teachers' Day celebration in the school on September 5 if the demands are not met.
Further, they decided to launch different form of agitations including protest rally until their demands are fulfilled.
