Imphal, August 03 2024:
Responding to call for making educational institutions disturbance free zone, students and teachers of Bhaktivedanta Institute Mission Higher Secondary School (BIMHSS) in Imphal formed human chains in front of their school gate along Imphal Airport Road on Saturday.
Yumnam Keroda, a teacher at BIMHSS who participated in the demonstration, stated that BIMHSS is a mission school where both teaching and non-teaching staff are dedicated to producing excellent students through their commitment and sacrifice.
The COVID-19 pandemic, coupled with the current crisis in the state, has worsened the school's condition.
Despite these challenges, the school continues to support various organisations to the best of its ability and also provided free education to students affected by the crisis.
The school has consistently produced high-achiever students and remains committed to maintaining this standard.
She further informed that the school is presently facing monetary demands from certain organisations.
The teachers of the school are in constant fear and under such a situation, it will not be possible for them to provide quality education to the students.
This situation has significantly affected the students as well.
Therefore, the students and teachers have come out to protest, demanding that educational institutions be designated as disturbance-free zones.
During the demonstration, the participating students also carried placards with messages such as "Stop Using Students as Tools", "Respect the Rights of Students", "Stop Extortion from Schools", and "Students Demand Disturbance-Free Education Zone" .
