Security measures beefed up at Jiri

In view of the ongoing publication of draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam and its possible spill-over effects in Manipur, special arrange-ments have been made by the State Government for effect-ive monitoring/ checking of illegal migration into the State.
Special teams of State police led by senior officers in the ranks of Assistant Commandants/Additional SPs have been deployed at Jiribam Babupara bazar, the waterways having access towards Jiribam and the route through Mizoram which leads to Jiribam district.
Special teams have also been deployed at Mao gate in Senapati district and Tamei Haflong road along the Assam border in Tamenglong district.
DGP LM Khaute has stated that the border areas of the State with Assam have been closely shielded and monitored.
He also conveyed that additional forces will be sent in to the said areas if the need arises and any illegal migrants found will be immediately pushed back.
