IRB rifleman killed in road mishap

Senapati, May 31 2022: An IRB rifleman travelling on a Honda Activa lost his life after a collision with a truck on Tuesday at Rikhumai Taphou in Senapati district on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly took place around 10 am when the IRB rifleman was returning home after morning duty at SBI, Senapati.

He was heading towards Imphal to his temporary residence at Koirengei.

The IRB rifleman was rushed to District Hospital Senapati but later succumbed to injuries.

His body has been taken to Imphal for post mortem examination.

The deceased IRB rifleman has been identified as RP Bocky alias Dahii of Thingba Khullen village in Senapati district.

He was a rifleman of 1997 IRB batch and got posted at SBI Senapati from March 14, 2022 .

An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident at Senapati Police Station.

Soon after the accident, a JAC has been formed with S Veinii as convenor, Kh Daihii as co-convenor and Thaiba Daniel as member secretary.

The JAC has refused to claim the body until the culprit behind the accident is booked.

It also demanded appropriate compensation and government job to next of kin under die-in harness scheme, failing which the JAC warned of imposing economic blockade along the highway.

Later, the JAC along with district's student leaders met the DC and SP, and an MoU was signed.

The JAC submitted its charter of demands to the chief minister through the DC.

SP Senapati briefed the gathering about the status of the investigation and told them that SP and CO of 4 IRB have agreed to take necessary actions with regard to the demands for providing government job under die-in-harness scheme as well as pension procedures.

The district police also agreed to take necessary legal action for booking the culprit at the earliest.
