Efforts on to improve JNIMS: Director

JNIMS director professor L Deben has said that efforts are on to make the lone state government owned medical institute better and bring a change in the institute.
In an exclusive interview with The People's Chronicle, the JNIMS director said that he has managed to bring a change in JNIMS since holding the post of director under the aegis of chief minister and JNIMS Society president N Biren Singh.
After a long time, the department of biochemistry in JNIMS has able to conduct various tests like LFT, KFT and electrolyte, thereby providing facility to patients.
Apart from increasing number of ICU beds, treatment services have improved and able to create patient friendly environment in the hospital, he said, adding that there has been no incident of isunderstanding/conflict between patient party and doctors or nurses.
He also claimed of bringing better relation between patient party and staff of the hospital thereby helping in smooth administration of the hospital.
According to professor L Deben, available manpower was utilised in planting saplings of different varieties around the hospital complex to make it more beautiful and cleaner as well as to provide resting place to patients and students.
He also disclosed that medical equipment like CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound machines commensurate with the time have been installed in the hospital recently.
Promotion for staff nurses, LDC, UDC, SR to assistant professor, assistant professor to associate professor and associate professor to professor, which remained pending for a long time have been carried out since holding the post, the JNIMS director said, adding that application for increasing number of MBBS seats to 150 from the existing 100 has been made and the same forwarded to the NMC for conducting an inspection.
He then appealed to people to extend support and cooperate in the efforts being made by the government, institute and the administration for making JNIMS a better, cleaner and patient friendly medical institute.
