Fake certificate gang rounded up: DESAM

Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has rounded up a gang member who sells fake certificates of class 10, 11 and 12 examinations conducted by BSEM and COHSEM.
Addressing a press meet at its office here on Sunday, DESAM vice-president Shital Oinam said that the Alliance received information of some people selling fake certificates for about two months back.
After investigation, DESAM rounded up one Golmei Solomon (35) of Wainem village, Senapati district.
Upon questioning, it came to light that one Kamei, a teacher at Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School, Noney, another individual named K Rana and one person from near JNIMS, who had since died due to Covid 19, were involved in the scam.
Moreover, Golmei Solomon disclosed that they have sold two fake certificates of HSLCE, one for class XI and two for HSE.
HSLCE certificate was sold at Rs 18,000 and HSE certificate at Rs 25,000.The deal was done mainly at Andro parking area with certificates provided three days after getting copies of Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, passport photographs and money, Shital elaborated.
He also informed that the fake certificates were sold for use in the ongoing recruitment for police constable.
These fake certificates have holograms same like those in the certificate issued by BSEM and COHSEM.
As such, there are possibilities of involvement of officials from BSEM and COHSEM, he opined and added that DESAM will investigate the matter further.
Informing that Golmei Solomon will be handed over to police, he demanded the government to probe the matter at the earliest.
