Benjamin strikes down 'malicious' WhatsApp message

Imphal, March 30 2019: Deeply concerned with a 'false WhatsApp message', BJP's candidate for Outer Parliamentary Constituency, Benjamin Mate today condemned the message and clarified that he 'never approved the message' .

A WhatsApp message titled 'Kukite dinga 2019 MP neilou akhohdan falsely attributed to Benjamin Mate', has been widely circulating in social media painting him as a candidate with communal agenda, said a statement of Benjamin Mate.

"...I have never approved the same and strongly condemn such malicious and slanderous attempts to portray my campaign in the wrong light," said Benjamin.

The message which appeared in some WhatsApp group about 3/4 weeks back is a 'deliberate ploy' by his opponents to sully his image, said Benjamin.

Benjamin in his statement also condemned the Congress party for criticising his campaign based on the 'unverified' social media content.

He appealed people, party members and supporters not to get deceived by such 'malicious message' .
