Locals demand completion of Hiyangthang-Kodompokpi road

Imphal, January 29 2013:
While expressing concern over the inconveniences being faced by the public of Mekola area and its surrounding villages due to Airport expansion, the locals of Mekola and the surrounding villages have appealed to the concerned authorities to make the Hiyangthang-Kodompokpi road usable by February this year.
In a press release signed by its Secretary Kh Achou, Mekola Youth Association stated that the Hiyangthang-Kodompokpi road is an important ODR in the area which connects Tiddim Road and Mayai Lambi but it has been lying disconnected due to expansion of Tulihal Airport.
People of the area are facing problem as the new diversion road is not in an usable condition.
Moreover, the long pending works of the construction of two culverts along the road have added more inconveniences to the people.
Keeping in view of the inconveniences faced by the people of the area, the Association appealed to complete the construction of the road by February this year failing which, it warned of taking recourse to different forms of agitation with the support of the people.
