AR organises health awareness drive

Thoubal and Tulihal Battalions of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) have organised health awareness drives at different locations, today.
Thoubal Company Operating Base (COB) of Thoubal Battalion organised the health awareness drive at Leitanthem Kanhai Junior High School, Thoubal with an aim to spread awareness about various common diseases related to monsoon season, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
It conveyed that the event commenced with a lecture on 'Water-borne Diseases and Significance of Health and Hygiene in Life'.
Various issues related to diseases caused due to intake of impure water, causes of Malaria and Dengue, health hazards due to open defecation and related precautionary measures that need to be undertaken were covered during the lecture, it said.
The lecture was followed by an interactive session.
As part of the drive, a routine medical checkup was also conducted by the Unit Medical team during which medical assistance was rendered to students.
In addition to the medical checkup, consultation on various diseases and health related issues was provided and free medicines were distributed, it added.
It continued that the Mayang Imphal COB of Tulihal Battalion also organised a health awareness drive for the students of St Stephen School, Konchak, Mayang Imphal.
As part of the event, the Unit Medical Officer of the Battalion conducted a lecture on 'Importance of Health and Hygiene' in which students were informed on the seasonal diseases, benefits of clean surroundings, balanced diet and good eating habits, it added.
The statement continued that the initiative of Assam Rifles was appreciated by the students and staff of the schools.
