Imagi Meira convenor Sujata returns home

Imagi Meira convenor Thokchom Sujata, who had been under house arrest in Delhi since December 10, returned here on Friday.
Sujata arrived at Imphal Airport on Friday afternoon in the company of representatives of 14 different organisations, namely Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak; United Meitei Pangal Committee; Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation; Kanglei Panas; Yelhoumi Phurup; Apunba Awonba Manipur Amagidamak (AAMA); All India Tanzeem-e Insaaf Manipur; Imagi Meira; All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs Organisation; Youth Collective Manipur; Manipur International Youth Centre; Meetei/Meitei Tribe Union; All Manipur Progressive Students' Association and others which organised the Nupi Lal observance on December 12, that Sujata was also scheduled to attend.
Speaking to media persons at the airport, Sujata confided that no explanation was provided on why she was placed under house arrest, and her complaint on the same was not registered.
Her rights as a citizen of this country was denied, which is unfortunate, she said, while opining that as Delhi police had no idea who she is, the entire thing was done at the behest of the Manipur government.
As such, she will be approaching the court on this matter, Sujata said, and urged for ending the conflict at the earliest if the people are to be dissuaded from airing dissent.
She further urged for allowing the people to move about freely and stop the excessive use of force by central forces.
Mention may be made here that the 14 organisations had organised protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi on the theme Peace and Mutual co-existence' on December 23.The organisations also submitted a memorandum to the PM requesting resolving the conflict, as per the wishes and sentiments of the people.
