Imphal, July 27 2013 : Decrying the rape of a minor girl from Nungoi Litan, Universal Mothers' Organization (UMO), Joint Action Committee Against the Rape Case of Student, Nungoi Litan Makhong and AMSU Imphal East Committee jointly staged a sit-in-protest at Yourbung Litan Makhong yesterday.

The protestors demanded the authorities concerned to give strictest punishment to the rapist identified as Leimapokpam Athemba (20) of Nungoi Litan Makhong Makha Leikai.

One of the women protestors said that the rape of a minor girl is the most heinous crime a person can commit.

The young victim is mentally and physically shattered and it would be hard to bring her back to normal life.

So, the rapist should not be spared at any cost and he must be given the strictest punishment for his beastly act against minor girls, she averred.

The JAC also demanded the authorities concerned to speed up the investigation and submit charge-sheet against the accused Athemba as soon as possible.
