Congress constitutes poll committees

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) have discussed the forthcoming state assembly election in a joint meeting held on Thursday.
The joint meeting led to the formation of different committees which will hold regular briefing with AICC election observer for Manipur Jairam Ramesh, who would be arriving in Imphal on Friday.
CLP leader O Ibobi, AICC CWC member Gaikhangam and party MLAs as well as MPCC leaders attended the joint meeting.
Several committees pertaining to coordination, campaign, Pradesh election, media coordination, manifesto, publicity, finance and election management team were constituted during the meeting chaired by MPCC interim president MLA N Loken.
AICC's Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das, election observer Jairam Ramesh, national social media convener Pranab Bhaktacharjee and AICC research department secretary Ranaji Mukherjee would be arriving in Imphal on Friday and they will convene regular meetings with the committees.
The AICC team will meet with the MPCC coordination committee in its first meeting on Friday.
Thursday's meet also discussed the strategies for selection of candidates in assembly constituencies without Congress MLAs or existing Congress candidates.
The coordination committee will bring out the lists of probable candidates in those constituencies during the meeting with the AICC team.
Dr Chaltonlien Amo is the chairman of the coordination committee and it has 16 members.
Former deputy chairman Gaikhangam will lead the manifesto committee, which has 10 members along with leaders of frontal, cells and departments as ex-officio members.
The campaign committee has 15 members and is headed by ex-CM O Ibobi.
MLA K Ranjit is heading the finance committee having nine members.
The election management team has seven members and is headed by ex-CM O Ibobi.
