Three UGs held; arms, ammunition recovered

Imphal, August 26 2015: Security forces arrested three UG cadres, including a woman PLA cadre, and recovered arms and ammunition in massive counter insurgency operations conducted in different valley districts of Manipur on Tuesday.

In a statement, PRO HQ IGAR (South) said a combined team of 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) and Thoubal Police Commandos with Women Police Unit established joint vehicle check post at Wangjing Heirok crossing and apprehended one PLA woman cadre.

she was identified as "No- 1552, SS Cpl" Moirangthem (O) Elangbam (N) Anita Devi alias Lanthoibi Devi (31), wife of Moirangthem Rocky alias Pammuba of Heirok Part- II.

The apprehendee was handed over to the Thoubal Police Station.

In another operation, a combined team of 45 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) and Heingang Police Station established joint vehicle check post in general area Pangei bazar and apprehended another PLA cadre on the same day.

The apprehendee was identified as "SS L/Cpl" Sanasam Birechandra alias Ibungo (46), son of Late S Nita of Zouvang village, Churachandpur district.

The apprehendee was handed over to the Heingang Police Station.

One KYKL cadre identified as "No 198, SS Pvt" Maibam Lemba Singh alias Nongdran Khomba (24), son of M Babum Acha of Langol Laimanai village under Lamphel Police Station, Imphal West district was apprehended by troops of the same unit from the area of Khabasoi.

The apprehendee was handed over to the Heingang Police Station.

Meanwhile, troops of 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) and Imphal East Police Commandos launched joint operation in the general area Urup Arapati Komla Ingkhol and recovered one Lathod gun and two Lathod shells on August 25.The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the Irilbung Police Station.
