Imphal, March 26 2012:
Bureaucrats in Manipur will no longer have to worry for a backing or lobbying for better postings once the state policy on transfer or posting is implemented.
A meeting of the state Cabinet today discussed framing of a state policy on transfer and posting.
According to a source, Chief Minister O Ibobi, Home Minister Gaikhangam, Health Minister Phungzathang and Revenue Minister Debendra along with Chief Secretary D.S Poonia participated in the Cabinet meeting.
The meeting decided to form a committee headed by the Chief Secretary to work out the modalities for framing a state policy on transfer and posting of government officials.
The committee is to submit its report to the authority concerned in one month's time.
According to observers, such a policy would help in curbing room for nepotism and corruption in connection with transfer and posting of officials.
Among other issues, today's Cabinet meeting also discussed ways and means of ushering in development in remote hill areas.
The Cabinet meeting also gave its approval to declaration of the commemoration event of Maharaj Narsingh as state function.
