ZUF celebrates 13th Raising Day

Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) celebrated the 13th raising day at its designated camp, Mount Ararat in Khoupum on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, ZUF chairman Jenchui Kamei said that the front has gained positive momentum towards achieving its demand for a Zeliangrong homeland after signing of the Cessation of Operation (CoO) with the Government of India.
In a statement, ZUF informed that Jenchui conveyed greetings and gratitude to leaders of Zeliangrong CSOs, kindred tribes, intellectual, well-wishers for their constant support and presence during the raising day celebration.
"I pay my revolutionary salute and homage to all our valiant patriots and warriors, who have sacrificed their lives and paid the price of our freedom.
I salute and acknowledge with gratitude all my fellow patriots and comrades for your strong and indomitable stand and contributions that brought progress and success this far," he said.
The chairman said that on this day, the rights and hope of Zeliangrong people have been reasserted and made known to the Government of India after India's Independence.
The "Zeliangrong Revolutionary government' was formed to demonstrate protest over India's long negligence and denial of their rights for many decades.
The fight is not with the Nagas but whosoever opposes the Zeliangrong community, he affirmed and added that they have cleared path, defended cause and land, and withstood the test of time with defensive measures and restrained offensive measures.
"Today, on this historic occasion, I am pleased to make a general official declaration that, the name of the Central Council HQ of ZUF shall be called and known as 'Camp Mount Ararat' henceforth.
We have chosen the name Ararat - the name of a mountain where the Ark of Noah rested after the flood.
With similar implication, after much struggle and suffering for our motherland, we have attained our status oh vantage ground for final settlement of our political aspiration," he maintained.
Jenchui further said that ZUF had resolved and maintained time and again, to exercise an accommodative and collective policy to take all on board.
He also prayed for forgiveness for those who have betrayed and hindered the cause in the past, all the Naga National workers and some Zeliangrong people, who misread the front and caused much pain and hindrances.
He further acknowledged the sacrifices made by the members of the front and said that their contributions have been well recorded with gratitude in the pages of its history.
The chairman also reaffirmed and re-assured the Zeliangrong people that, they have never failed with their commitment and will not fail the people.
"We have gained positive momentum with GOI and established a term of understanding and agreement.
We have paved the way for political talk and settlement by entering into a term of Cessation of Operation (CoO) agreement".
He further said that the issues and terms of agreement cover all Zeliangrong inhabited areas and land while acknowledging the GoI for their commitment and willingness to resolve the 'genuine' issues.
He further expressed gratitude to chief minister N Biren for his constant initiatives towards making all possible arrangements for settling secure designated camps and for all other necessary assistances made.
"It is our high hope that GoI with noble sense of humanity and dignity will resolve long drawn political issues of all Zeliangrong kindred people.
May this day, bring us closer with stronger unity, understanding and harmony as we march forward together with our determined demand for our just and deserving share of rights and freedom," he said.
Former ZPC general secretary CR Zeliang spoke on 'History and political perspective of ZPC Movement' on the occasion.
Gun salutes were offered to slain cadres of the front by cadres of Zeliangrong Tiger Force (ZTF), the front's arined wing.
People several Zeliangrong villages presented traditional songs and dances, as well as performed Jadonang parade on the occasion.
