Imphal, August 25 2024:
Following complaints of retail outlets refusing to distribute transport fuel despite receiving the same of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), an official team of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (CAF&PD) led by OSD Haobam Bobby visited several petrol/diesel pumps on Sunday.
Speaking to newspersons with regard to the inspection visits, Bobby affirmed that there is adequate stock of petrol and diesel.
For Sunday, around 47 retailers received 325 KL of Motor Spirit (petrol) with around 19 outlets provided 203 KL of High Speed Diesel (diesel) compared to normal daily requirement of around 250-300 Kl of petrol and 400-450 KL of diesel.
Although the fuel allocated by the IOC at present is below daily average, there would be no issue of petrol shortage in case the public do not resort to panic buying, he opined.
Furthermore, stocking of petrol at homes could lead to fire incidents, cautioned the OSD while urging the public to refrain from unnecessary stocking of the highly combustible liquid fuel.
