Reconsolidation Month rituals held

As part of the month-long 191st National Reconsolidation Month, United People's Front (UPF), Manipur honoured and performed rituals at Lengondabi Pat, Cachar in Assam on Monday.
UPF started National Reconsolidation Month from December 22 to commemorate the Seven Years of Devastation (Chahi Taret Khuntakpa) at Lengondabi Pat which is a place Meetei kings used stay during Chahi Taret Khuntakpa.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) president YK Dhiren, who took part in the rituals, told media per-sons that Lengondabi Pat is significant in forging unity people of Manipur as Meeteis, scattered due to the invasion by the Burmese (then known as Awa), regrouped after rituals at the lake and able to defeat and forced out the invader Awa after Seven Years of Devastation.
In the same spirit the great forefathers of the land did after rituals at Lengondabi Pat, efforts will be made to unite the Meeteis, he said adding that the ongoing National Reconsolidation Month will conclude at Maharaj Gam-bhir Singh and Nara Singh complex at Langthabal on January 9, 2025 .
He thanked various Meira Paibi and organisations of Assam for extending help and support to successful observance of National Reconsolidation Month in the state.
UPF president N Rupachandra also told media persons that the Front has been observing National Reconsolidation Month every year with the main objective to prevent devastation of Manipur as experienced in the past.
He said Lengondabi Pat is closely associated with, the history of Manipur as it was at this lake that Maharaj Gambhir Singh and Nara Singh made their commitment to defeat the invading Awa and eventually managed to force out the invaders after re-grouping the scattered Meeteis.
