CSOs demand arrest of Gaidinliu defamer

Condemning the derogatory remark made against freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu on the social media by one Dr Mark T Haokip, 10 civil society organisations (CSOs) have demanded the government to arrest him within 24 hours.
Addressing a joint press meet at Rani Gaidinliu Memorial Complex, Mantripukhri on Wednesday, PANDM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar said that Rani Gaidinliu fought for the freedom of Manipur as well as India and India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru honoured her with the title 'Rani' in recognition of her contribution in the freedom struggle.
Unfortunately, Dr Mark Haokip posted derogatory remark against her on social media and the 10 organisations take the matter seriously, he said and reiterated the demand that the government arrest him within 24 hours like the police pull up anybody who posted derogatory remark against chief minister N Biren.
Joining the media briefing, Kabui Mothers' Association secretary Ranjita Golmei said that the organisations will launch different forms of agitation if the government does not arrest Dr Mark Haokip within 24 hours.
Representatives of Zeliangrong Baudi, IPSA, CLK, KSA and IPAK were also present during the press meet.
