Imphal, March 23 2025:
The 15th death anniversary of state founder president of BJP Laimayum Raghumani was organised by Laimayum Raghumani Charitable Trust at Shri Shri Krishnachandraji Mandap, Khwai Brahmapur, on Sunday.
The function was attended by former MP RK Ranjan, Manipur Cultural Integration Conference president A Brajakumar Sharma, 'Karyakarni Sadasya' Manipur Prant Laishram Jatra and BJP Mandal Uripok president L Romen among others.
Trust secretary Laimayum Khogen Sharma remembered Raghumani as a steadfast individual who worked tirelessly for the protection of Manipur's territorial integrity.
In 1964, when the Nagaland Legislative Assembly passed a resolution to merge Naga-inhabited areas, Raghumani stood firm in opposing the said move.
On May 5, 1964, he organised a public meeting and formed a group called the People's Convention.
The meeting, attended by prominent individuals, adopted various resolutions.
Following this, Raghumani led the group to Delhi to meet with the then Prime Minister and Home Minister, submitting a memorandum demanding that Manipur's territorial integrity be preserved at all costs.
Leaders like him, who demonstrated love for their motherland and stood up for it, are essential, Khogen stressed.
The function was also attended by BJP Manipur senior leader Thokchom Yumjao and Ningombam Ibohal as resource persons.
