Kakching, June 22 2024:
Denouncing the non-resolution of the conflict that flared up in the state since May 3, 2023; Langsai Thouna Manipur, Kakching organised a public meeting at Kakching Lamkhai on Friday.
Attending the meeting, social activist Asang Kasar stated that its time all of us unite to save Manipur and resolve the present crisis which has been going on for more than one year now.
He went on to say that the people of the state have made repeated appeals to the central and state governments for resolving the conflict, but there has been no solution in sight even after more than one year now.
Asang stressed that instead of engaging in constant tug of war with the government, all communities of the state who want peace should come together to save our motherland Manipur.
Imagi Meira convener RK Sujata, who also attended the meeting, called for unity especially among the womenfolk of the state, for addressing the ongoing crisis.
As the meeting was about to end, a police team led by Kakching police station OC T Rameshwar arrived and asked the organiser to finish the meeting as they did not have permission for organising the meeting and using loud speakers.
After a brief discussion between the police and members of Langsai Thouna Manipur, the meeting was dissolved.
Before the meeting ended, the agitated public chanted slogans such as 'we don't want to live like slave', 'Oust Kuki refugees from Manipur', 'No disturbance to Manipur's integrity', 'Save Manipur', Tong live Manipur', etc.
