FCI officials prevented from inspecting state godown

Imphal, June 22 2013 : The members of Consultative Committee of Food Corporation of India were not allowed to inspect the state-run godown at Sangaiprou by the officials of CAF&PD today.

The three-member committee inspected the FCI godown at Sangaiprou and state godown at Nilakuthi yesterday.

Continuing with their inspection as per the directive from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the members of the consultative committee went to inspect the state-run godown at Sangaiprou.

The members intimated the godown officials about the purpose of their inspection and made clear of the Ministry's directives.

However, they were about to enter the Godown No.3, an OSD of State CAF&PD RK Binoy objected to inspecting the godown by the FCI officials.

A heated argument broke out between the committee members and officials of state godown.

OSD Binoy had even rebuked media persons who were at the godown for coverage.
