Bishnupur, February 22 2020: Demanding implementation of 7th Pay for the teachers in toto, All Manipur Elementary School Teachers Association (AMESTA) organised a sit-in protest under the aegis of Council of Teachers Association (COTA), All Manipur Government Lecture Welfare Association (AMGLWA), All Manipur Secondary Teachers Association (AMSTA) and All Manipur Graduate Teachers Association (AMGTA) in front of ZEO Zone 4 office at Bishnupur's Mini Secretariat, today.

Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the demonstration, COTA's co-convenor, Ch Shantakumar urged the State Government to rectify the al leged pay anomaly of the teachers at the earliest.

If the State Government fails to address the grievances of the teachers, stringent agitation including a relay hunger strike, fast unto death and total shutdown will be launched, he cautioned.

In the protest, placards that read "No Rectification No Rest", "We demand Rectification of ROP, We Don't Accept ROP-2019", "Rectify 6th ROP to Get Right 7th ROP", "School Phagat-hansi Ojasingi Paysu Phagat-hansi", "Implement Central Pay in Toto as per MOU, 2011-COTA" were used by the teachers.
