Govt hikes honorarium of ASHA, Anganwadi workers

Imphal, December 21 2021: Acknowledging the selfless sacrifice and role of ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and helpers during the crucial period of Covid-19 pandemic, chief minister N Biren Singh has announced that ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and Helpers would be covered by Chief Ministergi Hakshel-gi Tengbang (CMHT) for cashless treatment up to Rs 2 lakh in hospitals.

In his address as chief guest of the function, N Biren stressed the need to monitor and manage things at the micro-level for ensuring progress and development.

Hard work, sincerity, transparency and dedication are necessary ingredients to achieve inclusive development, said the CM, who also advised the chief secretary to issue an order regarding the government employees to be stationed at their respective place of posting for smooth governance, if the infrastructure facilities such as accommodation, etc., are available.

He further said that an Anganwadi centre should be adopted by every government officer so that there would be a healthy competition among the Anganwadi centres in the state.

The CM mentioned that around 4000 ASHAs, 11,500 Anganwadi workers and 9959 Anganwadi helpers (a total of around 25,500) would be benefited under the scheme.

He also announced that the honorarium of ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers would be increased by Rs 1000, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively.

A total 2600 smartphones have already been distributed to Anganwadi workers and another 9949 smartphones amounting to Rs 9.14 crore are being distributed Tuesday, he informed.

N Biren continued that under the CM Health for All scheme, around 69 villages have been covered so far.

Around 18,683 individuals have been registered and around 17,401 people have been examined by the health care workers at their doorsteps and distributed free medicines.

Expressing delight that Kamjong district has 100 per cent potable water connection, he said that the executive engineer concerned would be awarded for such achievement.

On the occasion, the chief minister also launched the 'Integrated Education Management System' and Digital Learning Platform for the education sector and e-ASHA for the health sector.

He also distributed tablets and smartphones to students and ASHA workers.

Delivering his speech, works RD&PR, IPR minister Th Biswajit Singh said health, education and social welfare are the priority sectors of the government.

He lauded the dedication and hard work of ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers for their selfless service during the pandemic.

While highlighting the need to create a sense of responsibility among ourselves towards building a better society, he said that with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas' slogan, the country is marching ahead towards 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', a self-reliant India.

Cabinet ministers, Rajya Sabha MP Maharaja Leishemba Sanajaoba, MLAs, chief secretary, administrative secretaries, HODs, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers and helpers and students among others were present during the function.

Meanwhile, district administration Churachandpur also organised launch programme of IT enabled convergence of Health-Nutrition-Education at JNM training school campus.

During the function, tablets were distributed to five students each from seven schools under SSA.

Moreover, 20 smart phones were distributed to ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
