MoS RK Ranjan inaugurates Passport Seva Kendra

Union minister of state for external affairs and education Rk Ranjan on Friday inaugurated a full-fledged Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK), which was set up on experimental basis at Sub Post Office Kakching since February 5.Inauguration of the POPSK organised by Regional Passport Office Guwahati, Ministry of External Affairs held at JnNRUM hall, Kakching Sumak Leikai was attended by RK Ranjan as chief guest and Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar as functional president.
Deputy Commissioner of Kakching D Gangmei, Regional Passport Officer Cherakung Zeliang, Department of Posts postmaster General (NE-II) Som Kamei, additional secretary-PSP and chief passport Officer Prabhat Kumar and Passport Seva Kendra, Imphal Superintendent M Infimate also took part in the inauguration programme.
Speaking at the function, Rk Ranjan pointed out that Kakching is an important place because of the Act East Policy and it will facilitate connectivity with South East Asian countries.
Establishment of POPSK in such an important place will surely benefit the people.
Though Passport Seva Kendra is in Imphal, the facility in Kakching is the first of its kind in the state, he added.
Urging the people of the district to avail benefit of Post Office Passport Seva Kendra, he assured further improvement of the facility.
MLA Rameshwar explained that passport is an identity card for international use.
As there is a need for passport for doing business, education and visiting other countries, Post Office Passport Seva Kendra is being established in Kakching for the welfare of the people, he said.
