NEDF condemns killing of minors

North East Dialogue Forum (NEDF) has strongly condemned the killing of 10 civilians from Imphal and Churachandpur during the agitation for Inner Line Permit (ILP) and against the ILP in Manipur.
The deceased persons were Sapam Robinhood (16) S/o Romesh; Henlalson (18 Yrs) S/o, M Khaikhothang; Pausuanlian (19) S/o Hauliangching; Paulianmang (23), S/o (L) H Thiala; Thangzalian (30) S/o Vungching; Khaijamang Touthang (10) S/o (L) Haukhothang; Robert V Jamminthang (30) S/o (L) Vungkhzam; Khamsianmuan (22) S/o Kamkhenthang; Lamkhenthang (43) S/o K Ginzalian and Enkhankhup (19) S/o S Nangzachin.
NEDF in a press note said that Khaijamang Toushang was 10 years old and Sapam Robinhood was 16 years old boys.
Both were children.
Indian state has to respect human rights and full protection of civilians specially children at any circumstances.
The people in Manipur experienced the killing of civilians and children by the security forces in the name of counter insurgency.
The hearings of cases are going on in Supreme Court, added NEDF.
According to the forum, the Government of Manipur could have used water cannon, rubber bullet to deal with the mob.
The Government is aware that the repressed people are suffering from "anger and frustrations" over various issues.
NEDF appealed to all to adopt non-violent and democratic means and urged all the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in Manipur to organize Conflict Transformation Training for police, civilians, religious leaders, women and district political leaders to change conflict into a more constructive peace building process.
NEDF also demanded from the Government of Manipur to establish a Special Investigation Team to initiate probe into the cases of killing in Churachandpur and act accordingly to punish the perpetrators according to the law.
