Imphal, November 18 2020: A combined team of Imphal East district police carried out a drive against illicit drugs at Urup Awang Leikai area today and arrested five people including a mother and a daughter.

Acting on some specific information about the presence of some drug peddlers/sellers in the area, the police conducted a surprise drive in some suspected houses today morning.

The drive was carried out by a combined team led by Roni Mayengbam, Additional SP (operations).

During the raid, one Md Nasir Khan alias Mano (51) s/o (L) Abdur Rahaman of Urup Awang Leikai was arrested along with 400 WY tablets, 20 nos of N-10 tablets and 58 numbers of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules.

Nasir revealed that his wife, Nalijan alias Thoibi and his daughter Seina were his assistants and sold drugs for their own profit.

Later they were arrested from their residence in the presence of women police.

On further investigation, Nasir also revealed the name of two more drug peddlers, Md Jawed (33) s/o Jabir Ahmed and Md Raju Khan (52) s/o (L) Md Nijam Khan of Urup Awang Leikai.

They were arrested in possession of 4000 WY tablets and two syringes respectively.

The arrested persons were handed over with the seized drugs items to Irilbung police station to take up necessary legal actions against them.
