Imphal, September 18 2015 : A 7-year-old girl has been allegedly raped by a 16-year-old boy in Bishnupur district on September 9 .

Women for Development (WAD) and Centre for Social Development (CCD) have strongly condemned the incident.

The family members of the minor victim during an interaction with the media persons on Friday said that the accused raped the girl, a Class 1 student, inside her house.

Her parents were not home when the incident took place.

The incident occurred when the girl reportedly had gone to collect books from her house to study with one of her neighbouring aunties.

When the victim failed to return, one of her uncles went to check for her.

The uncle thrashed the boy who ran away from the site, narrated the family members of the victim who added that the accused is a resident of the same locality.

When the locals tried to bring a solution, the accused' family refused to produce the boy and then the victim's family reported the incident to the Bishnupur Women Police Station.

Medical examination of the victim has been done at RIMS Forensic Science while the police are in search of the accused.

The victim's family alleged that the accused had sexually assaulted the same girl twice before and said that an incident was also happened a few months back wherein the same accused tried to rape a girl in Bishnupur area.
